PC Llewellyn visited school thus morning and worked with Classes 4 and 5.
In class 5 we talked about the danger of taking drugs.
We know that a drug is something that changes the way your mind and body works.
We talked about the difference between legal and illegal drugs.
Class 4 thought about smoking – they looked at the ingredients that go into cigarettes.
This term all of our pupils have been visiting the library.
Today Class 5 worked with Mrs Johnson who organised a great scavenger hunt for the pupils as well as reading them a funny story.
All the pupils also had the opportunity to borrow books.
Next week Class 4 will be joining Mrs Johnson for their visit.
Fishguard Library opens at 10am daily apart from Sundays. It currently closes at 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at 6pm on Thursdays, and at 1pm on Saturdays.

Thank you very much to Mrs Anne Tannahill who came into meet Class 2 and talk about the work done by the Paul Sartori Foundation this afternoon.
Class 2 are busy planning a fashion show to raise funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation.
The Paul Sartori Foundation is Pembrokeshire’s only Hospice at Home Service, established for those with a life limiting illness, was founded in memory of its namesake Father Paul Sartori.
Father Paul Sartori, a Haverfordwest-based Parish Priest, saw a need for hospice care in Pembrokeshire. Shortly after recognising the need he unfortunately became ill himself and died from cancer at the age of 39, in 1980. His inspiration moved a small group of his local parishioners and in his memory friends strived to bring his ideas to fruition and so the Paul Sartori Foundation came about.
Members of our code club recently completed six Microbit coding
projects and received certificates to acknowledge their achievements.
Our Code Club meets every Thursday from 3.15 – 4.15 and we welcome pupils from Y4 upwards. We are very lucky to have two volunteers (one an ex pupil) who give up their time every week to share their expertise and enthusiasm with us.
The Microbits were kindly donated to our club by one of our volunteers Nat Morris on behalf of his employers, Netflix. Code Club members have enjoyed creating a range of different games and gadgets using the devices and have begun working on more extended, independent projects.
Today pupils and staff of Holy Name School were joined by friends, family and parishioners for a special Mass.
100 years ago on June 7th, 1918 the school was solemnly consecrated to the Sacred Heart.
After Mass we invited everyone who had attended Mass to come back to the school hall where Class 5 had arranged a small exhibition of photographs showing some of the history of the school.
We also had a very special cake that we shared in the afternoon.

As well as many hundreds of books being read by the children over the 3 week period, the pupils have raised an incredible £1003.25 to be spent on new books for school!

At Holy Name School we are committed to the continuous raising of achievement of all our pupils. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them.
One of our basic principles is to celebrate success. Good attendance is fundamental to a successful and fulfilling school experience. We actively promote 100% attendance for all our pupils.
Parents have a legal duty to ensure that their child(ren) attend school regularly and arrive on time. Regular attendance is essential to the all-round development of the child and they should be allowed to take full advantage of educational opportunities available to them. Poor attendance undermines their education and sometimes, puts pupils at risk, encouraging anti-social behaviour.
Our attendance target this year is 95.5%.
Unfortunately, our figure has dropped to 94.97% at the moment.
Whilst we have experienced a high level of infectious illnesses such as chicken pox which lead to unavoidable time off school can we urge you to ensure that whenever possible your child attends school.

Please contact school if your child is unwell and will not be in.
If you are using ClassDojo to report a pupil absence please could you message Mrs Jones directly on the admin account.
If you would like to send a duplicate message to the class teacher that would be fine.
The way dojo is set up means messages are only seen by the recipient, they do not go to all staff-any messages sent to teachers after 8-30am may not be read until dinnertime or the end of the school day.
