Code Club

Mrs Thomas has continued to run a very successful Code Club this term.

Today the children invited in family members to see the Microbit projects they have been working on over the past halfterm.

The children really enjoyed showing their work.

Thanks to Nat and Kara, our volunteers who join us every week to help.

If you are interested in learning more about coding there are some excellent projects available for free on https://code.org

The children also have access to J2Code as part of the J2E suite on Hwb.

Read all about it!

This term we have been carrying out a number of events designed to promote a love of reading in our pupils.

Many pupils have taken part in out sponsored reading event which ends this Friday. It has been wonderful to hear from the children how much they have enjoyed their book choices and the challenges they have set themselves have often been very been impressive!

As part of this work our pupil Reading Ambassadors would like to create a bank of bedtime story films in the style of the CBeebies bedtime stories.

They are looking for parents, grandparents, etc who would be happy to come to school on Friday 15th June between 2pm and 4:30pm.

You would be filmed reading a short story of your choice. The films would then be shared weekly next term via Class Dojo and on our school Twitter account. If you or anyone you know would like to take part please contact Mrs Beavis.

Please don’t be shy!

Parent Partnership Conference

We have received the following information from Parent Partnership –

We would like to invite you to the 3rd Parent Partnership Service Annual Conference. This will be held on Monday 18th June in the Pembrokeshire Archives from 9.30am to 2.45pm.

This years conference theme is ‘Promoting Positive Behaviour’, and an update on the Additional Learning Needs Transformation /Statutory Reform program. We will be launching a new regional Parent Partnership website at the conference.

Parents, carers and professionals are invited to participate in 3 themed workshops. We are pleased to introduce Dr Judith Storey and Emily Dwyer to this years Conference, as well as Terina Thomas and the behaviour support team, who will be offering presentations on the theme of behaviours that challenge and how schools support learners.

The conference will also provide the opportunity of families to meet with a wide range of service providers across health, education, social care and the third sector. We invite information stalls from these organisations and you will have a chance to network during the break and lunch period.

We hope that this conference will give lots of advice, informationand a range of tools and strategies to support children and young people,as well as chance to meet with lots of services and organisations that support families.
