Code Club

Mrs Thomas has continued to run a very successful Code Club this term.

Today the children invited in family members to see the Microbit projects they have been working on over the past halfterm.

The children really enjoyed showing their work.

Thanks to Nat and Kara, our volunteers who join us every week to help.

If you are interested in learning more about coding there are some excellent projects available for free on https://code.org

The children also have access to J2Code as part of the J2E suite on Hwb.

Read all about it!

This term we have been carrying out a number of events designed to promote a love of reading in our pupils.

Many pupils have taken part in out sponsored reading event which ends this Friday. It has been wonderful to hear from the children how much they have enjoyed their book choices and the challenges they have set themselves have often been very been impressive!

As part of this work our pupil Reading Ambassadors would like to create a bank of bedtime story films in the style of the CBeebies bedtime stories.

They are looking for parents, grandparents, etc who would be happy to come to school on Friday 15th June between 2pm and 4:30pm.

You would be filmed reading a short story of your choice. The films would then be shared weekly next term via Class Dojo and on our school Twitter account. If you or anyone you know would like to take part please contact Mrs Beavis.

Please don’t be shy!

We ended our wellbeing week with our Glorious Gardening event.

Thank you to everyone who came to help – Greta’s Garden has had a much needed trim and flower beds have been weeded and planted.

Kerbcraft

Pupils from Years 1 and 2 have been working with Road Safety Officer Sally Jones to complete the Kerbcraft Programme.

Today they invited family members to join them for a road safety session where they could share all the important things they have learnt.

Thank you to Sally for all her hard work – she will be joining us on Friday to present the pupils with certificates.

Dancercise

As part of our Wellbeing Week all classes took part in an energetic Dancercise session led by Miss McLoughlin.

Family members were invited to join us and we were thrilled to see so many taking part and having fun.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such fun – special thanks to Miss McLoughlin who must be exhausted after the last two days of high octane dancing!
